Innovative set for long drilling on a lathe.
 
This complete drilling set has been specially developed for simple, deep hollowings in wooden workpieces processed on a lathe and for the production of cups, mugs, vases, etc. The long guide mounted in the tool rest hole provides stable guidance over the entire drilling length.
 
Both a standard and a large head can be screwed onto the guide.
 
Set components
 
1. Standard head with 55 mm HSS cutting insert.
2. Guide shaft with support, finished on one side with a thread for screwing the head, on the other side with a Morse MK2 taper, to be placed in the tailstock hole
 
- total length 400 mm
- diameter of the shaft on the support 16 mm
 
3. Adapter for placing in the support hole and securing the support shaft
 
- for support holes with a diameter of 25.4 mm (1") or 30 mm (choose a set with the appropriate adapter).
 
Principle of operation
 
Insert the adapter into the hole in the tool rest. Screw the head to the guide, place the guide shaft on the adapter, and insert the tapered end into the tailstock hole. To adjust the height, place a driving or rotating center in the spindle hole. Now adjust the height of the shaft in the adapter so that the point of the shaft is at the same height as the centering point on the cutting plate mounted in the head. Then clamp the workpiece onto the lathe spindle and position the fixture in the middle in front of it. Using the tailstock knob, you can now feed the fixture into the rotating workpiece (do not exceed 500 rpm).

Tip
 
When machining hardwoods, it is recommended to hollow out the workpiece in several passes. Start with a smaller cutting insert diameter and gradually increase the size until the desired hole diameter is reached. Because the guide is fixed in the tool rest hole, the drilling position always remains the same.
 
NOTE: The tool should not be used with drills!
